The Minnesota Wilderness had another packed weekend of hockey with three straight games over the weekend, all in Minnesota.
Thursday night, the Wilderness battled Austin on home ice in Cloquet. Kimball Johnson and Nate Horn netted goals in regulation against the Bruins for a 2-2 tie. With no goals in overtime, the teams ended the weekday night with a shootout. Wilderness goalie Kaleb Johnson shut out the Bruins attempts and Zach Michaelis ended the game for the Wilderness, scoring the only shootout goal of the night.
The following night, the Wilderness traveled to St. Cloud to face the newly-placed NAHL Blizzard. It was a tough game and the Wilderness put up five goals with Nick Portz, Bram Sheerer, Blake Holmes, Nathan Adrian, and Tyler Watkins all scoring. It wasn’t enough as the upstart Blizzard won 6-5. Watkins came out of the game with 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists).
On Saturday, the Wilderness took on the Bruins again, this time in Austin. Lewis Crosby scored his first goal for the Wilderness and Nick Portz scored in the third to put the WIlderness up 2-1. Portz finished the game by scoring an open-netter after the Bruins pulled their goalie.
The Wilderness are back at home in Northwoods Arena Friday and Saturday for a series against the Aberdeen Wings. The puck drops at 7 p.m. each night. Check out the ad on page 3 of this week's Pine Knot News!
