The Braham Bombers jumped out early and never were threatened in their 48-8 win over the Barnum Bombers in a Section 7A football game in Braham Tuesday night.
“Braham has good size across their offensive front and our guys had a hard time controlling the line of scrimmage,” said Barnum coach Mike Klyve. “Their run game up the middle was strong, and when we adjusted they used their speed and got out to the edge effectively with the outside run game and screen game.”
A big thorn in Barnum's side was Carson Shockman — who scored three touchdowns for Braham — as well as Luke Bendickson and Hayden Lee, who both scored a pair of touchdowns.
Braham moved on to the next round of the playoffs with an 8-1 record while Barnum fell to 1-8 as their season came to a close.
“Wins were tough to come by this season, for sure. With only five seniors and six juniors, we are a pretty young team,” Klyve said. “A lot of guys got some valuable experience and our seniors battled and showed good leadership even in the face of a very rough season.”
Despite struggling to find wins this season, Klyve was complimentary of his squad.
“Even when the wins are tough to find and the season isn't going the way you wanted it to, it's never easy when it's over,” Klyve said. “I'm very proud of our guys and their growth over this season. I am especially proud of seniors Blaze Hurst, Donovan Davis, Mason Calhoun, Braiden Davis and Cooper Nelson. Those guys battled every week. Even when things weren't going our way, they were always in it and leading our team.”
