Library to host groundbreaking

Cloquet library to host groundbreaking ceremonyThe Cloquet Public Library will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking for the new $2.14 million addition at 320 14th Street at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8.

There will be a program with speakers starting at 3:30 p.m. and refreshments and additional information inside to follow. This is the people’s library and everyone is invited, said Larry Anderson, library foundation treasurer and the person spearheading the capital campaign to raise money to furnish the new library and create a new central circulation desk.

The addition will include a large meeting hall, a larger conference room, new children’s library, new young adult library and office space for the boards. It is expected to be completed early next summer.

Construction is already underway, with the footings poured and walls going into place earlier this week.
