Obituary: Carol J. Palmer

Carol J. Palmer, age 84 of Cloquet, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Diamond Willow in Cloquet. She was born December 17, 1934 in Cloquet, the daughter of Harry and Clara (Kleckner) Demers. Carol graduated from Cloquet High in 1952. She was a lifelong Cloquet resident and a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church; the Holy Angels Circle, Catholic Foresters, and the Daughters of Isabella. Carol was a volunteer driver for cancer patients and served as an election judge for Knife Falls Township.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Paul Palmer; and her second husband, Harry McCuskey; four siblings, Eileen Romanek, Rosalie Laveau, Ernest Demers, and Harris Demers. She is survived by six children, Terry (Kimberly) Palmer, Timothy (Susan) Palmer, Kathlyn (Donald ) Hovde, Kenneth Palmer, Kevin (Annette) Palmer, and Paula (Steve) Smith; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Helen Demers and Edna Demers; Harry McCuskey family, children and grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Diamond Willow and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care given to Carol.

Visitation will be Monday, November 11, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. The visitation will resume on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Interment service will be at New Calvary Cemetery followed with a luncheon in the church social hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
