A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
Skiers from near and far will be flying off the jumps at Pine Valley Recreational Area Saturday when the Cloquet Ski Club hosts its annual ski jumping and nordic combined invitational, weather permitting. This year, happily, there is plenty of snow and the 40-meter jump was recently redesigned with a vastly improved inrun.
All are welcome to come watch local skiers and jumpers compete against other competitors who travel here for the Central Division competition. Follow the signs to Pine Valley Recreational Area at 1106 Olympic Drive (go past the hockey shelters) in Cloquet.
Practice for jumping will start at 9 a.m., with competition to begin around 1 p.m. on the 5-, 10-, 20-, and 40-meter jumps. Nordic combined races will begin immediately following the jumping. Concessions will be available for purchase, and proceeds go to the Cloquet Ski Club.
Potential competitors can find out more at the Cloquet Ski Club Facebook page. Registration starts at 8 a.m.
Saturday.
