The Carlton SWCD kicked off a series of free conservation programs for both children and adults in partnership with the Cloquet Public Library Monday. The topic for kids Monday was “The Journey of a Water Drop.”
SWCD will hold a winter maintenance workshop for adults 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, focusing on the issue of excessive use of de-icing salt, and just what can be done to keep our fresh water from becoming salty. SWCD conservation technician Alyssa Alness will present background to the problem in conjunction with urban water runoff, and will conclude with a demonstration on proper snow and ice removal.
