We are excited to share with you that the Cromwell-Wright area has formed its first “Best Christmas Ever” team. This effort is about uplifting and giving a local family hope when there may be none left. It is changing the world, family by family, and it’s happening right here in our community this year. village. Anything you are willing to give is greatly appreciated. We will also have gift tags on the tree in the Cromwell-Wright school office. Grab one and let Lynn in the office know which tag you are taking. All gifts should be unwrapped and dropped off at the school by 4 p.m. Dec. 18.

In other holiday notes, the Bethlehem fall Christmas bazaar is soon approaching, so please look for gently used or new Christmas items to donate. Donations can be brought to the church at any time. The bazaar runs 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 14. See’s Candy will be available at the bazaar. Cookie packing will take place too, so get your homemade goodies to church by 9 a.m.

Visit with Santa and get your picture taken at Cromwell City Hall 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Goodies and refreshments available. City Hall is located near the entrance to the Pavilion. Sponsored by the Cromwell Area Community Club.

Santa’s Shop will be coming to school Dec. 16-19. Students can shop for gifts for their friends and relatives at school.

The high school Christmas concert will begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 17. The elementary Christmas program begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 18.

Our community was shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden death of Madelyn Adelsgruber, 86, of Cromwell on Dec. 1 in her home. She graduated from Cromwell High School in 1951. She and her husband Jim farmed in rural Kettle River for many years. Madelyn hosted several foreign exchange students.

James “Jim” Peterson, 81, passed away peacefully Nov. 26. He was born in a log home on the family farm north of Wright and graduated from Cromwell High School in 1956. Visitation is scheduled for 2 p.m. until a 3 p.m. service Sunday, Dec. 15 at the Amery High School auditorium in Amery, Wisconsin.

Our sympathies to the family of Mae Graff, 96, who died Dec. 4. There will be no funeral service. Cards may be sent to her son, Allan Graff, at 12004 Moen Road, Wright MN 55798.

Feel free to join the community coffee hour at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell 8:30-10 a.m. every Monday.

The Cromwell Area Community Club held its annual meeting and election of officers Dec. 5. Officers are Lynn Odegaard, president; Deb Switzer, vice president and public relations; Cherie Hedin, secretary; and Brenda Nyberg, treasurer. These officers and CACC members are to be commended for all the work they are doing to beautify the Cromwell community.

There is no community yoga Dec. 16 and 23. The last session of the year will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30. Yoga will resume Monday, Jan. 6, at the Cromwell Park Pavilion as usual.

The Memorial Blood Centers will be at Cromwell-Wright School 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 19. Donating blood takes only about 10 minutes and each donation can affect three lives. You may donate if you are 16 years of age or older. A parent’s permission is needed for those under age 18.

The school is looking for parent volunteers to supervise recess 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20. Contact the office at 644-3737, ext. 1001.

The Lake Country Power Service Center in Kettle River will be offering customer appreciation goodies and coffee Dec. 19-23. Stop in and pick up 2020 calendars.

Bethlehem and Bethany Sunday school programs will be held 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., respectively, during church Sunday, Dec. 15.

Bethlehem Lutheran will be holding a Christmas Eve candlelight service 4 p.m. Dec. 24. Bethany in Cromwell will hold its service at 7:30 p.m.

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wright is holding Advent services at 5:30 Wednesday evenings, with a Christmas Eve service at 5:30 p.m.. There will be no services on Christmas Day.

Bill and Judy Haapoja will be at Villa Vista 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 30.
