A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
In just a few days we’ll welcome 2020, a bright New Year that promises certain prosperity and success for all.
We at Pine Knot News are sure to have an exciting, news-filled year. And we’re certainly excited to share it with you.
There’s a national election, where we’ll either choose a new President or keep the current one.
And there are issues that interest us all from immigration to national defense, taxation, global warming and gun rights, from the Super Bowl to the World Series, along with the latest important gossip from Hollywood and the entertainment world.
But you won’t read much about that in the Pine Knot News, as we’re a community newspaper hyper- focused on local news. We don’t cover Duluth issues, unless those issues significantly affect Carlton County. You can get that news elsewhere.
In the Pine Knot News, you will see stories from our local governments. We follow and report on city council actions, school board decisions, and Carlton County board meetings.
We cover local sports, from the schools to clubs to our junior hockey team, the Minnesota Wilderness. We cover fishing, skiing, and other outdoor sports.
We cover the weather, our children and our seniors.
We will feature stories about our neighbors, our friends, our challenges and our successes. Chances are good you will know some of the people in such stories. In our 16 months in existence, we’ve never printed a human interest story about people from Fargo or even Duluth. No other paper around here can make that claim.
Because that’s what a community newspaper does. We all keep up-to-date on regional, state, and national issues — but for local news, you can’t beat a local newspaper.
Our prediction for the New Year: It’s going to be a bright 2020.
