Cloquet city engineer Caleb Peterson said city crews are still working hard every day to remove or push back the high piles of snow that have accumulated during the double whammy of Thanksgiving holiday storms.
One of the city's main snow dump areas next to Veterans Park is already full, and the other site on Carlton Avenue and Highway 45 is filling up fast.
"The reality is we got a lot of snow early and storage space is gone, which means we are hauling snow constantly," Peterson said.
City crews are working to clear snow along city streets, to create better sightlines and widen streets. Crews have made it down the city's alleyways, but lack space to put snow there too. He said they are considering renting some trucks with crews to help with snow removal.
"But I also want to be mindful of our budget, which is gone," he said bluntly.
"I'm also happy it's 2020 so our overtime budget rolled over."
The city was also planning to work to remove snow on some of the sidewalks around town, especially near schools and major streets.
