Marylu Young, 92, of Carlton passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at St. Luke's Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born to Carl and Violet (Watt) Sorenson in Duluth on Nov. 10, 1927.
Marylu will be fondly remembered by all who knew her as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a very creative person who enjoyed painting, sewing and decorating. Friends were many and held dear, but most of all she loved her family. Marylu and Tom enjoyed traveling, attending plays, spending time tending to their beautiful flower garden, and enjoying life by Chub Lake.
Marylu was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, Thomas Young Sr .; and her brothers, Richard and William Sorenson.
Survivors include her children, Thomas Jr. (Mary) Young of Carlton, Timothy (Paula) Young of Carlton, Maren Young of Eden Prairie, Julie (Rod) Dittberner of Eden Prairie, and Kate Niederer of Eden Prairie; grandchildren, Jessica (David) Betts, Nathan Young, Peter Young, Kimber Young, Alisa (Ben) Brasher, Zackry Hanebeck, Thomas Wilmes, Ben Wilmes, Jesse Niederer, and Joseph Niederer; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 1 p.m. until the 2:30 p.m. memorial service Thursday, Feb. 13 at Nelson Funeral Care. Light refreshments will follow.
