A woman rear-ended a Cloquet school bus last week, but there were no serious injuries as a result. The crash was reported at 4:39 p.m. Feb. 11 on the 1500 block of 14th Street in Cloquet.
According to Cloquet superintendent Michael Cary, the few students still on the bus were brought to the hospital for examination while parents were contacted by the bus company, he said.
Initially the driver and all children denied any injuries, but Cloquet Transit later reported that one child was injured.
According to the Cloquet police report, Cloquet's Cheryl Clement, 64, was driving a minivan behind the bus and reported that she dropped something on the floor, looked down and then rear-ended the back of the bus. Clement was wearing a seatbelt and both her airbags deployed. She suffered ankle pain and facial pain from the airbags.
The bus driver, Debra Keith, said she had her stop arm out and lights on attempting to drop a child off at a residence. Clement was ticketed for careless driving.
