Members Cooperative Credit Union has announced that Tammy Heikkinen will be retiring as president and CEO of the credit union. Heikkinen, who has been with MCCU since 1978 and in her current role since 2008, will support the transition led by the board and executive leadership team.
Under Heikkinen's leadership, the credit union has grown to almost $800 million in assets, and over 55,000 members, with 12 branch locations across the state of Minnesota.
"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve our members and communities for so many years. Knowing that the credit union is financially sound and well-positioned for its next stage of growth, I have confidence in its promising future," Heikkinen said.
MCCU has been recognized as an outstanding credit union by many outlets, including being named the 2019 Minnesota Credit Union of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration, 2019 Best Credit Union by the Duluth News Tribune Northland's People's Choices Awards, and was a finalist for the Future Branch Innovator Awards in the category of "Outstanding Branch Design."
