Cloquet's Thomas Proulx announced this week that he is seeking re-election for the Carlton County commissioner seat he has held since 2010.
"It has been a pleasure and honor to serve the residents of District 3 on the county board," said Proulx. District 3 includes much of Cloquet.
Proulx, who is a probation officer and assistant tennis coach at Cloquet High School, sits on a number of committees and boards, including the Tribal Relations and Health and Human Policy committees for the Association of Minnesota Counties, as well as the Carlton Area Economic Development Partnership, NE Minnesota Office of Job Training, Cloquet Education Foundation Board and more.
District 1 commissioner Dick Brenner also announced he will file for another 4-year term.
"I feel that the impact of the virus and the process of constructing the Barnum garage plus a possible new jail project need to be guided thoughtfully with the best interests of the Carlton County people foremost in our minds," Brenner said. "Hard questions have to be asked before any decisions are made. I would like to help with that effort using my years of experience."
District 5 Carlton County board commissioner Gary Peterson also announced last week that he will seek re-election this fall, as reported in last week's Pine Knot News.
