Labor candidates and supporters gathered outside the Premiere Center on a brisk Friday morning to celebrate the party's endorsement of State Representative District 11A incumbent Mike Sundin and State Senate District 11 challenger Michelle Lee.
The endorsement convention was held online over 10 days, versus the usual one-day convention in Barnum. More than 130 delegates voted, Lee said.
A limited number of supporters were invited to attend, and both the candidates and their supporters stood 6 feet apart wearing masks during the campaign event. "We are at a point where we're losing livelihood and lives, but look around you, see what we are doing today: we're smart, we're keeping our distance, wearing our face masks," Lee said. "In a post-COVID-19 world it's going to take people like our representative Mike Sundin and me as we flip the state senate majority."
Sundin said Lee would be a great partner in St. Paul and encouraged supporters to listen and read reliable local news for information.
