I don’t know where my brain has been lately, but I just found out that Father’s Day is June 21, not last Sunday. Oh, well, it means twice the good wishes for all you fathers out there.
I also know that there will probably be no class reunions this summer. The Class of 1961 will not gather this year, but members hope to make some bigger plans for the 60th reunion next year. I want to wish all our area classes a great summer, even if you can’t gather for your significant reunions.
There doesn’t seem to be an appetite for group yoga this month. Ann completely understands, and thinks it’s awesome that we all want to be distanced and safe. So, no more Monday classes this month. Ann will check back in late in June. The first possible class session would be July 6.
Things are looking better for Wrong Days in Wright. Chairperson Linda Kalli pointed out that Carlton Daze organizers have not canceled the event yet, which is in July as well. She’s hoping Wrong Days can go on as scheduled July 17-18, with following social distancing guidelines, encouraging people to wear masks, and taking reservations for the steak fry. If everyone is on board, Kalli said we will need to make the decision soon. Linda later wrote that the Wright city council supports holding the celebration.
“Now we await final approval from Carlton County public health, I believe, for the final OK,” she wrote.
Tom Hansen said that he can do the preliminary work for the softball tournament, but he won’t be able to attend Wrong Days. The committee is working on finding someone to run the tournament, knowing we won’t have as many teams. Festival buttons will be available, but there will be no candidates selling them due to COVID-19, so they will probably be available only at area businesses. The fireworks will also be held Friday night. St. John’s is also planning on its annual rummage sale. Jake Kachinske said he would also organize the parade if we have one.
St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wright has resumed 10:30 a.m. services, observing social distancing and encouraging people to wear masks.

Congratulations to Edna and Jerry Mowers, who just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. They are fortunate to still be living in their own home.
This Saturday is the first day of summer and Ray Lally’s worst day of the year. Why? Well, from this day through Dec. 20, the hours of daylight get shorter every day.
Thank you to all who sent Bob and me 50th wedding anniversary cards or called. Much appreciated.
Remember: Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he’s gone for the whole weekend. Happy fishing, and happy Father’s Day.
