Carlton events

Happy Fourth of July to everyone. For me as a kid growing up in Cloquet, the Fourth of July was the highlight of the summer. People came from miles around for the big parade, the carnival rides at Pinehurst Park, family picnics and celebrations. In the evening my parents took all three of us to the fireworks at Pinehurst Park. And it was usually hot, sunny and humid, like the weather has been lately. It really was an exciting and fun day.

Enjoy the Fourth of July celebrations as limted as they are. Stay safe by wearing a mask with social distancing.

The Carlton community will not be holding its Carlton Daze celebration this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope to see everyone next year.

Donations are needed to help make the annual “Dream” garage sale a success. Clean garage sale items (please, no clothing and shoes) can be donated by contacting Linda Kaehler at 218-428-0496. All proceeds go to the Carlton VFW. The sale is Sept. 11-12 at the Four Seasons sports complex and event center in Carlton.

The Carlton Recycling Shed is open 2-6 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays. Please observe social distancing for the safety of the employees and community members who are also using the recycling area. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
