Happy Grandparents Day on Sept. 13. A grandparent is someone who cares for you and in all things you try to do. A grandparent always has a ready smile and is willing to go that extra mile. Remember your grandparents with laughter and joy recalling the days when you were a little girl or boy.
Here’s a quote I read recently: “I wouldn’t change my grandchildren for the world, but I wish I could change the world for my grandchildren.”
I remember my grandmother Minnie Dahlman well. She was my dad’s mother. She lived in a small house across the road from my parents and I spent countless hours at her home. It always smelled of liniment and cardamom. She was also the first one in our family to have a television, so many days after school I would rush over to watch the Mickey Mouse Club or some other children’s program. Remember when cartoons were only Saturday mornings? Now there are so many children’s programs that kids can watch any time of the day or night. We didn’t get a TV until I was older, maybe in sixth grade, so these were very special times spent at Grandma’s house.
Be sure to wish your grandparents a great day.

Michelle Lee was in the area last week meeting with about 25 or 30 area residents in the front yard of Derek Nyberg and Brandon Eller. She spoke for about 30 minutes on her reasons for running for the 11th District state senate seat. Everyone attending was “Covid careful” and they also had several questions for Michelle after her talk. She explained that she was working for such things as expanding broadband to rural areas, health care, and funded public education along with other topics.
