Wright/Cromwell news

It’s officially autumn. The summer seemed much longer than normal mainly due to this Covid pandemic. I’m sure we are all hoping for the time to pass quickly so we can get to the end of this disease, but as with most things, patience and staying safe is the best way to deal with all our restrictions.

Please keep Bob (and me) in your prayers. He has two compression fractures and was in severe pain. He will probably have to go back to the nursing home for therapy and recovery.

Have noticed that a person, who wants to remain anonymous, has repaired the steeple at the Bethlehem Lutheran in Wright. For the past several years, the shingles were missing and the cross-made years ago by Bud Olson had broken and fallen off. As of now, there is no cross on the top, but plans are in the works for a cross to be made and be placed on the outside above the main entrance doors. The fellow had a 40-foot ladder and it barely reached to do the job, so thanks for the repairs.

The ladies who head up the Christmas Caring Program are announcing that they are asking for donations to help our area kids have a better Christmas this year. Bring donations to the Area Clothing Depot or to donation containers at area businesses. Ruth and Pam are heading up this effort. Donations will be collected until Dec. 1 and distribution of gifts will be later in December. Some of the donations also go to the residents at the Villa Vista. Ruth and Pam want to thank everyone for their past participation.

There will also be an auction sale at the Big Top in Wright on Oct. 3 for the estate of the late Larry Hamren. It will be held indoors so weather shouldn’t be an issue.
