Sympathy goes to the family of Brian A. Holte, 40, of Anoka, who passed away Oct. 14 at his home. The preliminary autopsy showed that Brian had an enlarged heart. Send condolences to his mother, Judy Olson, at 1827 South Ferry St. Apt 214, Anoka MN 55303.
Mary J. Purcell, 92, formerly of Wright, died Oct. 9 in Minnetonka. I sure am going to miss sending Mary this news article every week, as I did for the past five or six years after she gave up her computer access. I also will miss the letters I received from her every month or so. She was a dear and valued friend. Rest in peace, Mary.

A great meal for a great cause, with safe curbside pickup in the alley, will be offered 5-6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6. The Alpha Delta Kappa teacher sorority is partnering with the Rustic Diner in Barnum to raise money for scholarships for high school seniors in the area including Barnum, Moose Lake, Cromwell-Wright and Willow River. This is the Friday before the Minnesota deer hunting season begins Nov. 7.
There will be no hunter’s supper on Nov. 6 this year, nor the Red Bird craft sale originally set for Nov. 7. Kari, Angela and Lea made the difficult decision to cancel the Red Bird bazaar due to Covid concerns and issues with holding large community events.
The year’s Bethlehem Lutheran Church bake sale, brunch, and Christmas bazaar has also been canceled.
Ruby’s Pantry visits Nov. 12. No boxes or bags needed, volunteers will fill boxes and bring them right to your vehicle. They still need those plastic bags from area stores to pack the bulk items for this event. Drop them off at Bethany Church if you can.
The residents of Southview Apartments in Cromwell thank those responsible for the wonderful new sidewalks and resurfacing the driveway. It is so much appreciated and sure makes walking and parking safer and more convenient. If you are in the area, why not take a drive through the south side of this facility to see the new look?
Ebba Hedin would have been 91 years old on October 18th; her grandson Derek wishes her a happy birthday in heaven, and said if he could call her today, she would have asked, “Where are you now?” and he would have answered, “at the cabin.” That always made her happy, and little did she know that he would have to stay at the cabin, which she proudly called home, for the past 8 months because of the pandemic. It’s great to know that Derek has kept his promise!
My husband, Bob, is still in North Shore Estates for rest, therapy and, hopefully, recuperation. His back is healing and he hopes to be home soon.
That’s all the news from the Edge of Wright.
