History mystery

We have a good lead on the gondola car found on the St. Louis River banks just south of the Interstate 35 bridge.

We are fairly sure that the device is used to make hydrological measurements of the river. But we have yet to hear back from U.S. Geological Survey, which keeps tabs on the river. We'll let you know when we can confirm.
