Obituaries: Eleanor (Charon) Johnson

Eleanor (Charon) Johnson, 91, passed away Nov. 13, 2020. She was born Jan. 15, 1929, to Azim and Aurile Charon and lived her entire life in Cloquet.

She graduated from Cloquet High School in 1947 and worked at the Wood Conversion company until her marriage to Harlan Johnson in 1952. While raising her five children, Eleanor worked at a variety of jobs, including as an aide at Leach School and managing Conwed's Forest Products Credit Union. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church (later Queen of Peace) where she was active in the choir and church circles.

Eleanor loved to travel and especially enjoyed her trips to Alaska and Hawaii. She liked reading, walking, bicycling, cross country skiing and spending time with her grandsons at Jay Cooke State Park and Brighton Beach in Duluth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan; her son Mark; her parents; brothers Bill, Leo, Fred, Bert, Dick and Louis Charon; and sisters Aurile Johnson and Lucille Baker.

She is survived by children Lynn (Bruce) Parnin, Keith Johnson, Glenn Johnson and Kim (Patrick) Marciniak. Eleanor also leaves behind grandsons Brice (Crystal) Parnin, Blake Parnin, Max Marciniak, Sam Marciniak; great-grandsons Cash and Dylan Parnin; and brother Roy (Diane) Charon.

Due to current circumstances, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Eleanor's family would like to thank Pam Moen for help in assisting Keith with her care and for her friendship.
