Congratulations to Katy Hakala on the shot of a lifetime when she recently bagged a huge buck Nov. 14 near their home. Her husband Matt helped her track the deer and she was glad he was there when they found it. This was Katy’s fourth deer, and first buck. A full story can be found in the Nov. 24 issue of the Voyageur Press newspaper.
Also bagging really nice-sized bucks this hunting season were the Hutar/Mattson siblings, and Siiena Anderson shot her first buck this fall.
Clothing Depot news: There will not be a customer appreciation event at the Area Clothing Depot this year, but they really do appreciate their customers, so they are having a special three-day sale Dec. 8, 10 and 12. This will be a special price of $3 per bag for the items that are not specially marked. Masks and social distancing are required to enter, and no food will be served this year.
I got a nice letter about donating to the Cromwell Forest Hill Cemetery Association to help defray the recent three-year shortfall of an average of $2,200 per year. The board is requesting financial support from those whose family members are buried there, and from anyone else interested in contributing. The income of the association is predominantly the sale of gravesites, perpetual care and donations. Other cemeteries seem to be having similar difficulties, and we need to try to keep our accounts from any further shortfalls. Please send donations (made out to the “Cromwell Forest Hill Cemetery Association) to Tina Johnson, 5140 County Road 4, Cromwell MN 55726. You can also call president Barb Burton, 218-380-5087, or Bob DeCaigny, 218-879-2471, for information.
