Diane M. Krych, 68, of Esko and Stone Lake, Wisconsin, went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
Diane was born in Minneapolis on March 24, 1952 to Robert and June Rittenhouse. She graduated from Richfield High School in 1970 and graduated from Southwest State University in Marshall, Minnesota in 1974. She met her husband, Dean, in an elevator at the J.C. Penney store at the Southdale Mall in Edina in 1976 and they were married in Brookings, South Dakota in 1977.
Diane was an auditor for the Southland Corporation 1980 until 1986 and a past director of the Lake Superior Life Care Center. She owned and operated Esko Tax Service 1980 to 2021, serving countless thousands of clients over the years.
Diane was passionate about the pro-life movement and education-related issues. God placed it on her heart and the heart of her husband, Dean, to adopt their son Adam from Calcutta, India in 1984, and her daughters, Rosa, Lina and Natalia, from Manizales, Colombia in 1993. She was very proud of the people her children chose to marry, and she loved her grandchildren with all of her heart.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Dean; her sister, Denise Smith; her sons Justin (Sarah) and Adam; her daughters Rosa (Dana) Maendel, Lina (Greg) Sminesvik and Natalia (Jacob) Seidel; her brother-in-law, Arden (Margaret) Krych; niece, Meredyth (Keith) Appelbaum; and nephew, David (Elizabeth) Krych. Diane was blessed with nine grandchildren, Noah, Levi, Moriah, Hudson, Dawson, Eli, Luke, Daniel and Lydia. Diane was also extremely fond of her very special friends, Terry Sharkey, Connie Lippitt, Cindy Washenesky, Kathy Schaller and Carl Dietz, who did so much to care for her and her family throughout her life.
Arrangements have been trusted to the Downs Funeral home, Superior, Wisconsin. The family is very appreciative of the friendship and services provided by funeral director, Al Butterworth.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, and continuing at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Celebration of Life service Saturday, Jan. 23, Pastor Rolf Fure of Duluth Gospel Tabernacle officiating, followed by a cake and coffee reception, all at Down's Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th St. in Superior. The burial and committal service will take place immediately after the reception, at Maple Grove Cemetery at 803 Birch St. in Cloquet.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family has requested monetary donations to Charise Millsop of Butterfly Missions in Kenya or Glorious Shoo of the New Life Foundation of Tanzania. Both individuals are doing amazing work to spread the Full Gospel Message of God's love and forgiveness and alleviate suffering for children in this world. Donations in memory of Diane can be sent to Dean Krych, P.O. Box 248, Esko MN 55733. Please indicate in the memo portion of your donation which ministry you would like to support.
