Calling for vaccinations

For two weeks in a row now, Carlton County has put out alerts letting people know there are openings for vaccinations at their weekly vaccine clinics and asking them to call 218-499-6310 to register for an appointment.

Public information officer Meghann Levitt said the county doesn’t know very far in advance how many openings it will have for its vaccinations at the Barnum garage. Notices can’t run in the pages of the Pine Knot News, because they don’t even know how many doses are coming. Instead, people with internet access can check the Carlton County Covid-19 response hub at bit.ly/CarltonCountyHub.

People still have to meet certain qualifications for vaccinations.

This week’s openings were for people aged 65 or older, and younger people who are providing paid or unpaid primary care for anyone with complex medical needs as well as interpreters for those who are deaf or blind.

According to the county Covid Hub, the county continues to provide vaccines for Phase 1a, E-12 and Childcare, and 65-plus populations. People with specific underlying health conditions, and residents with rare conditions or disabilities that put them at higher risk of severe illness, are encouraged to reach out to their healthcare provider or call 218-499-6310.

Carlton County Public Health and Human Services is also connecting directly with employers to cover the essential worker category.

County officials update the Carlton County Public Health and Human Services Hotline at 218-499-6312 weekly by 4 p.m. on Mondays (more often, if needed) and the “Vaccine Information” tab on the Hub.
