The Tri-Community Food Shelf will once again be participating in the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign. This year's campaign runs through April 11. It is the largest food-and-funds drive in the state with approximately 300 food shelves/pantries throughout the state participating each year. Every dollar Minnesota FoodShare works to secure annually from corporations, individuals, foundations and businesses goes directly into the Minnesota FoodShare FoodFund. Those dollars are distributed to food shelves/pantries in midsummer, based on a food shelf's Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign participation results and on the number of individuals the food shelf serves. Monies raised locally stay local. This is why we specifically ask for help now, in order to help meet the needs of our neighbors struggling with food insecurity.
With the campaign being held this month, the fourth grade at Cromwell-Wright School is collecting donations for the Tri-Community Food shelf for FoodShare March. Due to Covid-19, we are requesting only monetary donations - that means money. Donations can be made at high school advisories, the office or any elementary classroom. Please help support our community. Checks can be made out to Tri-Community Food Shelf and sent to Cromwell-Wright School, Fourth Grade, P.O. Box 7, Cromwell MN 55726.
A beautiful memorial service was held for Marilyn Walters, 78, of Cromwell, who died March 5. The service was held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell on March 13. Her family thanks everyone for their sincere condolences, their prayers while Marilyn was in the hospital, the flowers, cards and messages of sympathy. May she rest in peace.
Among the many nice comments posted on the Atkins-Northland funeral home website is this message from Lori Hanson and Bill Sariin: "To all of Marilyn's Family, Marilyn was a volunteer in Cloquet a while back and we had the pleasure to welcome her into our home to help care for my mother (Bernice Hanson). She always had a smile on her face and made momma feel safe and happy and was a great caregiver. She also made it possible for me as mom's caregiver to have a break for a day or two. She also shared her dogs Wickett and JoJo with us, which brought us great joy, as well as listening to her play the violin. Another great memory was watching A.J. at Carlton Co. Fair in the tractor pull. So kind and caring and I'm sure she touched many hearts and lives. Such an angel, she'll be missed bunches. Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers."
The Bethany and Bethlehem Lutheran churches will be open for in-person worship starting Palm Sunday, March 28, and also on Easter Sunday at their regular times.
A pair of vehicle keys were found at the school. If you lost keys over the winter, please call to identify and claim. They have been outside for a while.
