Wrenshall news: Dress-up days at school

Homecoming week for Wrenshall is coming up next week and despite the differences

in its delivery, it will be full of festivities.

There are dress up days throughout the week and, given that some parents are still having to work from home, they might want to get in on the costuming as well. Tuesday is sports day, Wednesday is pajama day, Thursday is cartoon day, and Friday is school spirit day.

The actual homecoming coronation ceremony will be livestreamed on the Wrenshall School Facebook page. Joel Lembke and Maggie Sowada will host the event.

This year there will also be a blind auction for a chance to throw a pie at the candidates. Bidding forms can be found on the Facebook page and bids need to be entered by 4 p.m. on April 6.

The pie throwing will take place April 8 during fifth hour.

Wrenshall school is participating in a district-level long-range planning process facilitated by the Minnesota School Board Association. There will be both internal and external surveys and the school is asking for community members to participate. You can have the opportunity to do so online or with a hard copy. The survey opens today and closes May 9. Visit the school website for more information or contact Beth Peterson at [email protected] if you want to pick up a hard copy of the survey.

As I continue to watch the grass-to-snow ratio head toward the green, I get a bit nostalgic for my time playing lacrosse in high school and college. Being on a team boosted my self-esteem and solidified wonderful friendships. I was able to push myself and hone my focus and determination. Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the country today and area boys and girls from kindergarten to eighth grade can register now to be part of the Northern Siege spring league. All experience levels are welcome and there are local practices and games.

For more information or to register Google “Northern Siege Youth Lacrosse Association” or email Sean Hall at [email protected].
