It’s that time again when we need to meet to decide what events we are having at this year’s Wrong Days celebration. Our first meeting was last Tuesday at Kalli’s. We will definitely need some more help, as Jake has retired from doing the steak fry and we still have no one to take over kids’ games and the coronation on Friday night. Please spread the word. If anyone is interested in helping out with the event, please let Linda Kalli know if you can help: 218-878-7876 or [email protected].

Our sympathy to the family of Emeline (Kingsley) Svoboda, 90, who passed away Dec. 11, 2020 at Eventide in Moorhead. Emeline was born in Money Creek, Minnesota to Orren and Ethel Kingsley on May 28, 1930. She grew up in Cromwell where she attended grade school and high school. Graveside services will be held in Forest Hill Cemetery in Cromwell.
With Memorial Day fast approaching, the Cromwell Forest Hill Cemetery Association perpetual care policy is as follows: The perpetual care fees paid by gravesite owners are deposited into a fund, which is used for general cemetery upkeep and maintenance: lawn mowing and trimming, tree trimming and removal of dead trees, spring cleanup, and filling in sunken grave depressions. What is not included in perpetual care: resetting of stones; placement of concrete around stone; vandalism, such as tipped headstones; storm damage; or an act of God. Families are responsible for care of markers and headstones, keeping grave sites neat, clean and uncluttered, removal of flower pots, hanging baskets, shepherd’s hooks, etc. Flower pots or anything which interferes with mowing can be placed no sooner than May 15, left for four weeks and then removed, or the sexton may dispose of them.
In closing this week I’d like to wish all our mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day and end with some of the most common sayings from our mothers. Here are some of my favorites: Don’t sit so close to the television. When you have kids I hope they treat you like you treat me. You just wait until your father gets home. Money doesn’t grow on trees. Don’t talk with your mouth full. I’m not going to tell you again. I’ll give you something to cry about. If your friends jumped off a bridge, would you? If I’ve told you once, I’ve told you a million times. Don’t get smart with me. Because I said so, that’s why.
That’s all the news from the Edge of Wright! Remember, you can send your news to me at [email protected] or call 218-357-2385.
