A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
It’s that time again when we need to meet to decide what events we are having at this year’s Wrong Days in Wright celebration.
Here’s a summary of last Wednesday’s meeting minutes:
Planning: Linda Kalli contacted several vendors to see if they are interested in attending Wrong Days. Linda sent a donation request to Fond du Lac for a stay at Black Bear. Linda asked Rick Gresczyk to follow up with them. Linda contacted George Burton regarding fireworks. They are available to do the show. We chose the $4,000 show. George will send the necessary paperwork. Linda contacted Joe Arnold about getting a gun for our raffle. He said he would.
Events: Danny Nyberg agreed to handle the beanbag tourney. Jennie and Mike are working on the button design. Tom Hansen will handle the softball tourney. Lea Tiili Anderson will handle the volleyball tourney and asked if they could get a new net. Leslie working on it. Jana Anderson and Faith Nyberg will help out at the steak fry; Leslie working on getting music for the park on Saturday afternoon and at the Big Top Saturday night; Jake said St. John’s will still have their rummage sale Friday and Saturday.
Miscellaneous: Jake said he would still hose out the Big Top with the fire truck before the steak fry. Linda will contact Tim Bury to have him start looking at steak prices and donation for our raffle.
Wrong Days committee members need to talk to the city regarding the repair of the log building in the park. Wrong Days can pay for materials if need be.
Volunteer: We will definitely need some more help with the steak fry, kids games and the coronation. Anyone interested in helping out, please contact Linda Kalli at 218-878-7876 or [email protected].
In other news:
The Farmers Co-op store was recently robbed and the perpetrators took almost all of the tobacco products. If you have any information about this, please call 911 or Tim at the co-op at 218-357-2251. We are so fortunate to have a store in Wright and can’t afford these robberies. The Farmers Co-op store is a cooperative owned by the many area shareholders. When thieves steal from the store, they are stealing from the members.
