Lori Marie Alaspa, 59, of Cloquet passed away May 17 in her home due to health complications.
She was born Nov. 15, 1961 in Cloquet, the daughter of Arthur and Helen (Nelson) Petersen. Lori attended school in Cloquet and was a 1980 graduate of Cloquet High School. She accepted a position with the school district soon after graduation and worked in various positions, her most recent being 20 years at Washington School until her retirement in August 2020.
Lori married Walter "Sonny" Alaspa in 1999, and together they shared many years of happiness, spending time with family, traveling, gardening, and cheering for Lori's beloved Minnesota Vikings. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her infectious laughter, her love of animals, and her boundless generosity.
Lori was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents; and her brothers Tim and Scott.
She is survived by her sister, Kathy Crotteau of Hermantown; brothers Mark (Beth) Petersen of Cotton, Kurt Petersen of Cloquet, and Christian (Tammy) Petersen of Lakewood, Colorado; many beloved family members and friends; and her two cats, Sven and Sparrow.
Visitation: 5 p.m. until the 6 p.m. memorial service Friday, May 21 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. A luncheon will follow in the Fellowship Room.
