Wright/Cromwell news

The Floodwood VFW Post 8299 was at Wright Park for Memorial Day services. This year, Wes Heikkila was the honored veteran, as he passed away June 25, 2020. I also see that the veterans memorial in the Wright Park has been shored up.

The parents of Cromwell-Wright students send a huge thank-you to all the teachers and staff for their extremely hard work and perseverance throughout the school year. Thank you for keeping our kids in the school to optimize their learning experience. Your hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. We are blessed to have you all.

As most of you know, the Young Old Timers has been meeting in Cromwell for many, many years. The YOT club meets once a month for lunch at noon, followed by a short business meeting and a program concerning senior issues, and lots of friendly conversation. We currently have 32 members and invite you to join us. You can also bring a friend or two along.

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at noon in the Cromwell Park Pavilion with a meal provided by the YOT officers. The annual dues are only $5, and members are asked to sign up to bring a light lunch once a year.

We also sponsor the YOT dances on the fourth Thursday of the month, 1-4 p.m. at the Cromwell Park Pavilion. Our first dance will be held 1-4 p.m. June 24. If you feel this is something you would be interested in, please attend on June 8 at 12 p.m. and check us out. We hope to see you then.

The Bethlehem/Bethany educators and youth leaders are invited to attend an evening with Catherine Anderson, Northeastern Minnesota Synod youth ministry coordinator; she will join us in conversation around renewing our Christian education programs. All members and friends of the churches are invited to a time of inspiration and reflection 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 9. Please let Pastor Deb know if you will be able to attend. Signup sheets will be available at both churches. A light supper will be provided. Come one and all to listen, explore, wonder and imagine about Christian education at Bethlehem and Bethany.

New Member Sunday at Bethany and Bethlehem is June 13. Please call Pastor Deb if you are interested in joining either of these churches, 218-644-3640.

Mark your calendars: The Cromwell Area Community Club is happy to announce that the Harvest Festival is on for Friday-Sunday, Sept. 10-12. We have been working hard to make this a good one! If you have ideas or would like to volunteer to help out in some way or another and keep our tradition alive, please call or text Lynn at 218-644-3544. Leave a message if no answer, please.

The 10th annual Kaleb Anderson Glow Run/Walk will be held Saturday, July 3 at Cromwell Park. Cost: $25 for age 11 and up, $15 for 10 and under.
