Wright/Cromwell news

The Young Old Timers met for the first time in 15 months on June 8. Officers provided a delicious meal. There were several new members, and so far there are more than 30 paid memberships. Mayor Sharon Zelazny gave an update of the goings-on in Cromwell and the highway upgrade project for the summer of 2022. County commissioner Gary Peterson provided an update on county matters, and emphasized that Kingsley Road will be tarred for the first time this summer. This road will probably be needed for a detour next summer. The next YOT meeting is at noon on July 13 in the Cromwell Park Pavilion. New members are always welcome to attend.

The Rev. DeeDee Haines (Deb Switzer’s niece) will be the guest pastor at Bethany and Bethlehem on June 27 while Pastor Deb is on vacation.

New members were welcomed at Bethlehem and Bethany Lutheran churches June 13. The newest members at Bethlehem in Wright are Dean and Deb Levinski; and at Bethany in Cromwell, Del and Katherine Wendt, and Jason A. Reed and Jalynn Marie Reed.

With graduation ceremonies over for another year, I’d like to send this message to all our graduates, and everyone else: “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.”

That’s from John Wesley. May your future be bright and your heartaches light.

Our sympathy to the family of Lillian Fern Koskinen Faridi, who passed away Jan. 19 in Fountain Valley, California. She graduated from Cromwell High School in 1962. Laura Granlund, also a Cromwell graduate, recently passed away. Longtime Villa Vista resident Signe Pitkanen, 104, of Cromwell passed away June 3 in Villa Vista Care Center. Signe graduated from Cromwell High School in 1934.

The annual Wounded Warriors United Minnesota event has been canceled. It was to have taken place at the Cromwell Park and Pavilion on Aug. 22. I talked with organizer Logan Shiflett, who said some riders might do the ride on their own, but there is no organized event. So, if you have a mind to donate to this worthy cause, please send your donations to Wounded Warriors United Minnesota, care of Logan Shiflett, P.O. Box 5, Cromwell MN 55726. All donations go to help our local wounded vets

I want to wish all the fathers a very happy Father’s Day.

That’s all the news from the Edge of Wright.
