Margaret Alexander, 86, of Keowee Key, South Carolina, passed away at her home Oct. 19, 2020. Born in Cloquet, she was the daughter of Floyd and Mildred Nelson, and wife of the late Robert George Alexander.
Margaret was a CPA and an active member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Seneca, South Carolina. A lifelong volunteer and philanthropist, she served the needs of others in a variety of ways, including reading to the blind and donating her accounting services to startups as well as not-for-profit organizations, and most recently served on the boards of directors with the Rosa Clark Medical Clinic, Hospice of the Foothills and Oconee Memorial Hospital. In addition to being a voracious reader and world traveler, Margaret enjoyed playing bridge and golf, hosting family at the lake, spending time with friends over a glass of wine and the occasional spirited political conversation (on which she was well informed).
Margaret is survived by four daughters, one son, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son and a daughter.
Visitation: 10 a.m. gathering until the 11 a.m. celebration of Margaret's life Saturday, June 26 at Nelson Funeral Care, 1004 Cloquet Ave. in Cloquet. Margaret will be reunited with her parents in Nickerson Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. After a life of learning, travel and adventures, she will rest in the home state she loved, surrounded by loved ones.
