Get your party on, Carlton County, this weekend is packed with community festivals.
Esko got a head start on the weekend with Esko Fun Days kicking off earlier in the week. Still to come is fun at the football field on Friday, featuring a cornhole tournament starting at 6 p.m.
Saturday is the grand finale of all the fun, with a 5K race at 8 a.m., an 11 a.m. parade, games in the park starting at 11:30 a.m. and a grass volleyball tournament starting at 2 p.m. The street dance that evening starts at 7 p.m.
The Honey Bee Festival returns to the Oldenburg House in Carlton Friday and Saturday, August 6 and 7. Gates open at 2 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday. The festival is outdoors; social distancing will be encouraged. Both days will feature regional music acts including Icon Man, War Bonnet, Lesser Planets, Sara Thomsen, as well as the Minneapolis-based Minor Mischief A Capella group. The Saturday agenda includes a barn dance under the tent with Terrence Smith. Also Saturday a bike ride event will start at Wussow's Concert Cafe in West Duluth at 10 a.m. Participants will ride to the festival grounds off the Munger Trail at Oldenburg House.
Wrenshall Brickyard Days kicks off Friday with a Community Night Out celebration at city hall. One of the weekend's highlights is the parade at 11 a.m. Saturday. Look for vendors in the park following the parade, with bingo at Silver Brook Town Hall, inflatables, a photo scavenger hunt, and music. The Brickyard Days Car Show runs 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Enjoy events at Bricks Pub and Grub after the parade, including a bean bag tournament and a live band. A volleyball tournament starts at 9 a.m. Sunday at the park.
