Doris Lorane Naslund, 94, died peacefully at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton on Aug. 10, 2021. She was born April 8, 1927, in Barron County, Wisconsin to Herb and Grace Ellefson, and lived her early years on a farm in central Wisconsin.
After graduating high school, she moved to Moose Lake. She met and married Allan Naslund and in 1951 they settled in Esko to build their home and family. Doris was an active, lifelong member of St. Matthews Church, where she always enjoyed worshipping and serving with others in the Esko community. She enjoyed working for many years at Morgan Park State Bank, but when she left banking she began her life's finest work as a mom and grandma. An avid sports fan, she never missed a Twins broadcast, and was a fixture in the area basketball bleachers. Friends and family will remember her kitchen as a warm one, always ready with hot coffee, homemade cookies, and open arms. She lived to serve others.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, and brother, Bud (Ervin) Ellefson. She is survived by her sons Dave (Katie) of Onamia and Dan (Leslee) of Barnum; six grandchildren, Erin Resech (Mike) of New Brighton, Seth of Onamia, Taylor (Ali) of Madison, Wisconsin, Alex (Caroline) of Apple Valley, and Jacob and Andrew of Duluth; two great-grandchildren, Henrik and Elliot; and several nieces and nephews. The family extends special thanks for her years of compassionate, loving care at Inter-Faith Care Center.
Visitation: 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service Friday, Aug. 13 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet, followed by refreshments in the fellowship room. The family recommends masks be worn. See the family online guestbook at http://www.nelson funeralcare.net.
