Although summer is winding down, we can still enjoy the warm temperatures and our favorite ice cream treat. I thought back to when I was a kid and my mom would buy one pint of ice cream from Bystrom's Grocery on the corner of Highway 33 and Freeman Road in Sunnyside. That pint of vanilla ice cream would be divided into five slices and served on homemade apple pie or cantaloupe for a Sunday evening treat for my family. In those days we bought ice cream in small amounts because the freezer compartment of our refrigerator was about a foot square.

I know nobody wants to think about Christmas, but I need to think about the Christmas lights that decorate my very tall house. I am putting out a request for someone who does not mind climbing a ladder, or may have a bucket truck or lift, to help straighten out the lights, and would be willing to donate its use for a couple of hours. I know a lot of people enjoy the lights, and I do not want to disappoint the community. If you can help in September or October, give me a call 218-310-6065. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
