Setup for the scarecrow contest in Cromwell is Labor Day weekend. Register with Lynn for a spot to place your scarecrow in town, 218-644-3544. Judging is at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, with cash prizes. New this year is a kids’ category.

The medallion hunt begins Labor Day, with the first clue given out immediately after the scarecrow contest judging. Clues will then be posted on the CACC website, http://www.cromwellareacommunityclub.com and CACC Facebook page. Questions, call Lynn, 218-644-3544.

Cromwell’s Harvest Festival is set for Sept. 10-12. Events include the steak fry 4-7 p.m. Friday, at the pavilion. $15/plate, and $5/hot dog plate. Ice cream cones will be available from the Extreme Teens youth group. Tickets for the 7 p.m. quilt raffle will be available during the steak fry. The quilt was donated by Cardinal Quilters, and tickets are $1 per chance. Food and craft vendors will be in the park 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday. Other events that day include a Class of 1953 reunion, volleyball tournament, parade, a 9/11 remembrance with the high school band, pie social, games and a scavenger hunt for kids, music in the park, cornhole tournaments, pie and hot dog eating contests, and music at the muni. A pancake breakfast and community worship service will take place Sunday morning. The Riverside Drifters horse show starts at 12 p.m.

Plans are in the works for the Christmas bazaar at Bethlehem on Dec. 11. Start collecting your gently used or new Christmas/holiday items for the sale. Homemade or handmade items are especially needed this year, since they couldn’t have the event last year.

The Extreme Team is asking for any last-minute calendar submissions on its 2022 calendar of events, so please call Liz Kabus, 218-428-6733, to get your items or ads posted on the calendar.

A memorial service for Audre Goranson will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wright Friday, Sept. 3. Visitation is 12 p.m. until the 1 p.m. service. A lunch reception will follow.

A memorial service for Robert Kelley of Tamarack will be held Sunday, Sept. 5, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell. Visitation is 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service.
