The folks in Cromwell and the surrounding area celebrated a great weekend as Harvest Fest was a huge success. There were 194 steaks from the Farmers Co-op in Wright served at the Friday night fry. Sue Youngberg won the Cardinal Quilters donated quilt. The stand-still parade was great, with the Extreme Team winning first place with their Flight 93 float. Ken Kangas and Ed Raisanen were honored as the grand marshals. The pie social was delicious. Corn hole tournaments for youth and adults were well-attended. Vendors and crafters came. A wonderful pancake breakfast was served on Sunday followed by a worship service.

Many folks said this was the best Harvest Fest ever. Also, lest we forget, the community stopped to pay tribute to those who died on Sept. 11, 2001. Bill Switzer gave a brief history of the events of 9/11. Rob Switzer sang a solo. It was a very fitting program and those in attendance were very respectful as they remembered the tragic events of 20 years ago.

Yoga at the pavilion on Mondays has resumed. It costs $3, with gear provided. Call Ann Markusen at 218-428-3300.

Mark Oct. 9 for a 100-year celebration of the Star Club near Moose Lake. It will take place 2-11 p.m. There will be an open stage 2-6 p.m. for musicians and stories, followed by a polka dance.

Why do folks lock their car doors when attending church in the fall? So no one fills the back seat with zucchini. Yes, it's happened.
