Rollin "Giiwedin" Francis Smith, 77, of Cloquet passed away Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 in St. Luke's hospital in Duluth. He was born Feb. 28, 1944 in Cloquet to Jay and Lizzie (Bear) Smith. Rollin married Peggy Saylor on Nov. 20, 1982 in Denver. Rollin was a proud band member and worked for the Fond du Lac Reservation.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Rupert, Ronald, Roger and Raymond Smith; sisters, Bernice Jarski, Theresa LaPrairie, Audrey Smith and Valerie Ross; and one granddaughter, Amanda Stolz.
Rollin is survived by his wife, Peggy Smith; son, Jason (Ariann) Smith of Cloquet; daughters, Betty (James) Reese of Dayton, Ohio, Rhonda (Dennis) Peterson of Hermantown, Lesia Berg of Cincinnati, and Peggy Susan (Jeff) Rhoden of Huntsville, Alabama .; and 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 6- 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet. Visitation will continue at 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. funeral service at the funeral home. Masks are required. Interment in Holy Family Cemetery.
