Obituary: "Betty" Ann Elizabeth Hebert

"Betty" Ann Elizabeth Hebert, 93, of Cloquet passed away peacefully Nov. 5, 2021, at Inter-Faith Care Center, Carlton. Betty was born April 17, 1928 to Paul and Elizabeth Meyer in Quamba.

Betty loved life, which was apparent in everything she did. She loved to get dressed up, go dancing and just enjoyed whatever she was doing. If there was an opportunity or an invitation to go somewhere, she was there. Betty had a heart of gold and welcomed everyone with open arms, and her infectious smile made it easy for her to make friends wherever she went. Those lucky enough to know Betty were drawn to her compassion, empathy and care for those around her, and it was no surprise to those closest to her that she chose nursing as her profession. These traits were continually apparent in the care she provided for her patients over the years. Betty's commitment to care will carry on in the hope of finding a cure for Parkinson's, as her last wish was to donate her body to research at the University of Minnesota.

While she will be deeply missed by all, especially her loving family, it is with gratitude we celebrate all of the blessings she provided to those who knew her.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Elizabeth (Fabrello) Meyer; daughter Elizabeth; stepsons, James (Betty) Carlson, Mahtowa, and Roger (Teresa) Carlson, Cloquet; granddaughter Julie May, Madison, Wisconsin; and special friend Gene Cary.

Betty is survived by her daughter Rosemary (Gerry) Pollard, Carlton; sons Steve (Marilyn) Chell, Bonita Springs, Florida, Michal Chell, Mahtowa, and Rick (Melissa) Carlson, Mahtowa; brothers Robert (Maxine) Meyer, Lexington, Virginia, James (Phyllis) Meyer, Frederick, Wisconsin, Larry (Halie) Meyer, Potlatch, Idaho, and Gary (Kathy) Meyer, Rockford, Illinois; granddaughters Alison (Cale) Suominen, Cloquet, Stefanie (Ross) Biebl, Cloquet, and Elizabeth Carlson, Susuno, Japan; grandsons Brett (Dan) Chell, Minneapolis, Michael (Ann) Jacobson, Wayzata, Jess (Annie) Pollard, Cloquet, Arthur and George Carlson, Susuno, Japan, and Tyler Selin and James, Manny and Landon Carlson, all of Mahtowa; stepdaughters Jane (Cliff), Cloquet, Charlotte (Robert) Lane, Cloquet, and Suzie Carlson, Duluth; many nieces and nephews; and 14 great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her special friend and dance partner Leonard Obeidzinski, Carlton.

Celebration of Life: Visitation for family and friends is 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Monday, Nov. 15 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Please join us for a luncheon immediately following the service to laugh, share fond memories, and celebrate how special Betty was.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Betty's name to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The family is eternally grateful for the kindness and care provided to Betty by the doctors and nursing staff at the Inter-Faith Care Center. We also want to thank St. Croix Hospice for the comfort and peace they provided Betty in her final days. A special thank-you to Larry and Rosemary Tobin, who were a blessing not only to Betty, but the family over the past several years. We will always be grateful for the love, kindness and care they gave to Betty.
