A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
Folks in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin are encouraged to decorate their homes or businesses and help spread some holiday cheer. Then, head over to christmaslightingchallenge.com to register your home or business and join in the fun.
The goal of the contest, according to organizer Peter Cpin, is to create a great resource of festive homes and businesses to allow families to continue the tradition of going out to look at Christmas lights together while having a little contest fun.
Online registration for the seventh annual Christmas Lighting Challenge is open Friday, Nov. 19 through Sunday, Dec. 5. Online voting runs Dec. 3-20. Results for individual categories and favorite city will be announced Dec. 22. This year will also feature a snowman scavenger hunt, presented by Legacy Toys.
The contest is free to enter and voting for both best home and best business is done by the community, except for the grand master category. Winners in each sponsored city will receive special recognition at an award ceremony. Winners in Duluth, Superior, Cloquet and Hermantown will receive a gift basket with prizes and gift cards from local retailers and a personalized award to commemorate their win.
