As this year comes to a close in just a few days, I wish you safe travels and gatherings and a very merry Christmas. Worship services on Christmas Eve at Bethlehem are at 4 p.m. and at Bethany at 7 p.m. No services on Christmas Day, but regular worship on Sunday, Dec. 26.

Ann Heikkila informed me that Dorothy Maxine Holecek, 94, of Duluth passed away Dec. 13, 2021. She was a teacher and simply loved to teach, especially home economics. She worked in many of the surrounding areas, including Cromwell. A private family service was held.

Elementary parents, the weather is cold and students need warm clothes for recess. We do have an abundance of wonderful items for use if your student is in need.

Yoga will resume Jan. 10.

Due to Covid concerns, the Cromwell Area Community Club will not be sponsoring Santa at the City Hall this December. We are sorry, but Santa needs to stay safe so he can make his rounds on Christmas Eve.

Please support our Area Extreme Teen Youth group by purchasing their event calendar; call Liz, 218-428-6733. There are lots of events and wonderful graphics on this calendar, and it is also for a great cause. No excuse now for missing appointments.

Join us for the CACC New Year’s Eve celebration starting at 8:30 p.m., Dec. 31 at the Cromwell Park Pavilion. There will be live music by The River Hill Rangers, hors d’oeuvres, a champagne toast and dancing. Dress: semiformal. Cover charge $10 per person, must be 21 or older.

Former pastor Brandi Hacker sends Christmas greetings. She and her husband, Paul, and son, James, are eagerly expecting the birth of a daughter in March.

Here’s my Crazy Christmas Carol quiz. Just figure out the carols these initials stand for (e.g., WSW is “While Shepherds Watched”): JTTW, OHN, HTHAS, TFN, GRYMG, GKW, WTKOOA, OCT, AIAM and GTIOTM. They may seem easy but may drive you crazy.

Remember, your children need your presence more than your presents.
