Wright/Cromwell news

Our sympathies to the family of Liz Thom, 76, who died Jan. 5, 2022. Her nursing career included serving as a school, clinic and home care nurse in Cromwell and for Carlton County Public Health. She was also a leader in Christian education and music in Cromwell and other areas churches. Services were scheduled for Jan. 13.

Jill Eichenwald recently emailed, thanking me for my list of those who passed in 2021; and although she doesn’t know many people in the area anymore, she does “like to send up a prayer for all of them, and especially for the few I know — like Siiri Peterson.” I sure miss Jill’s mom, Shirley Parviainen Maki — we had some great times together, and sometimes I wonder why I’m still here and so many of my classmates aren’t! But I will do my best to live for them.

The memorial service at the Cardinal Court/Villa Vista for residents who passed away in 2021 has been postponed until February due to Covid concerns.

The Extreme Teens Youth calendars are now available for purchase for $18. Contact Liz Kabus (218-428-6733) or Sarah Levinski (651-246-9003) for more info.

The next Senior dance at the Pavilion in Cromwell will be 1-4 p.m. Jan. 27, with music by Jerry’s One Man Band.

In school news, community residents will be receiving a survey in mid-February to assess needs in advance of the community facility meeting, which will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 24 to discuss potential building improvements, answer questions, hear ideas, and communicate with our residents and community members.

Any students exhibiting illness with potential Covid-related symptoms will be required to wear masks in the office/nurse’s room while being assessed. Health care staff will also be required to wear full PPE while treating or assessing the students. Contact Mr. Libbon with any concerns or questions.

Jan. 28 in the auditorium.

Here’s a reminder that the first semester ends Jan. 21. Students in grades 9-12 must earn passing grades (A-D) in order to earn graduation credits. All failed classes will need to be made up.

And here’s a reminder to parents whose students ride the bus: masks are mandated for both pickup and dropoff. Please make sure your child brings one.

That’s all the news from The Edge of Wright.
