At Bethlehem Lutheran Church’s annual meeting Jan. 30, the following were elected to the Council: president, Doug Suhonen; vice president, Jennie K. Hanson; secretary, Bonnie Goerts; treasurer, Diane Anderson; worship team, Carol Hutar; property team, Tom Kabus and Jesse Anderson; Extreme Team Youth leaders, Liz Kabus and Sara Levinski; and endowment committee, Ann Heikkila, Bonnie Goerts and Maxine Line. The meeting was followed by a potluck dinner.

Congratulations to our 2022 homecoming queen, NataLee Hakamaki, and king, Zevvus Smith. Crown bearers were Malin Borglund and Eli Olson, and the flower girl was Ryder Lind. Homecoming was held Jan. 28 in the high school auditorium after the varsity defeated the Floodwood Polar Bears. The elementary school cheerleaders, coached by Cherie Nyberg, put on a great performance, which made the night very special.

The Extreme Team will be screening “Hoovey” for community movie night 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6 at the Bethlehem Church in Wright. It’s the story of Eric “Hoovey” Elliott, a promising basketball player who collapses on the court. After a high-risk surgery for a brain tumor, Eric uses his tenacity and faith to relearn how to do everything. No admission fee, so just come and enjoy the film. Rated PG, good for kids age 10 and up; running time is 1 hour, 31 minutes.

The next Ruby’s Pantry is Thursday, Feb. 10, with new hours 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m., at the Cromwell Pavilion. Cost: $22 per share.

The Extreme Team is sponsoring a special Valentine’s Day dinner and entertainment at 6 p.m. on Feb. 12 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cromwell. Tickets are $15 in advance. Contact any Extreme Team youth, Liz Kabus (218-428-6733) or Sarah Levinski (651-246-9003) for more info.

Community residents will be receiving a survey in mid-February to assess needs in advance of the Cromwell-Wright Board of Directors community facility meeting at 6 p.m. Feb. 24 to discuss potential building improvements, answer questions, hear ideas, and communicate with our residents and community members.
