A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
I’m just sitting here typing this week’s news column, and since I have a really bad cold and sore throat, I am self-isolating at the Hanson Palace on the edge of Wright, and doing only “Light Duty,” just like Queen Elizabeth is, after testing positive for Covid.
Speaking of royalty, congratulations to Al Elmer and JoAnne Powell on being voted king and queen at this year’s 2022 Valentine’s Day party on Feb. 12 at the Villa Vista/Cardinal Court in Cromwell. Fittingly, the dance music was provided by the King of Polka, 95-year-old Florian Chmielewski.
Congratulations to Ms. Brekke for being honored by the Lakeside Quilters of Tamarack for 35 years of teaching in the Cromwell-Wright school district!
Congratulations to Jon Sloan on being published and being part of the MarsCon 2022 at the Hilton Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport, coming up March 11-13. All the doodling he did back in elementary school has helped him go far in the cartooning world! I remember him as being very creative back in the day!
I recently got personal phone calls from Mike Sundin and Jason Rarick regarding the letters I sent them about supporting the improvements to Highway 73. It is nice to know that our legislators take our letters seriously and respond, so keep those letters flowing to them, it will make a difference!
My sister, Margaret Dahlman Taylor, is celebrating her 40th year in business at Wood Magic on Miller Trunk Highway in Hermantown. Stop in for a visit and take advantage of her special 40-percent-off prize drawing.
Beanie Randa asked me to announce that there will be $3 bag days at the Clothing Depot in Cromwell on the first three days of the month, and there will also be a sweater/hoodie, etc. giveaway for the month of March. Limit three items per customer per visit, please.
Community Yoga meets at the Cromwell Pavilion 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Mondays. The $3 fee covers city rental. Gear provided. Questions, call Ann Markusen, 218-428-3300.
Would you like to join the Cromwell Area Community Club at our next meeting? We are always accepting new members, and dues are only $10 a year. Not sure if you want to join? Feel free to come sit in on a meeting and then decide. NO pressure. Our next meeting is set for Wednesday, March 9, at 6 p.m. at the Cromwell Park Pavilion. We will be discussing our upcoming events.
Keep in mind that March is Minnesota FoodShare month, and I will have more details next week.
This week’s quiz: Complete this sequence of letters: o, t, t, f, f, s, s, ?, ?, ?.
That’s all the news from The Edge of Wright. Remember: Life isn’t about just making a living; it’s about making a difference! So, go on making differences in the lives of those you meet!
