Antique Appraisals with Steve Wesely, of Crescent Auctioneering were held on Tuesday, March 1st at 1 p.m. at the Moose Lake Historical Society. There were six participants and five observers.
The first "Star of the Show" was an electric table lamp, circa 1900, that had 18 domed crystal prisms . Presenter indicated that she had another one just like it at home, but hadn't brought both of them. Estimated value of this item was $300-400.
The second "Star of the Show" was a pair of domed chandelier shades, pale pink, white and clear glass...very decorative. These items, thought to be some 75 years old, were valued at $250-275 for the pair.
A Hagar ceramic vase was shown. It was ivory colored, and thought to be circa 1960. . Hagar products are not high end ceramics. It was valued at $15-20.
A chalk ware figurine of a lady in a formal gown was shown. It was in remarkably good condition, as chalk ware is very fragile. It was estimated that this item was some 50+ years old and was valued at $12-15.
A tie hanger, with a green wooden bead in its middle was shown. This item thought to be some 75 years old was valued at $4-5. But still very usable.
A letter from "Salo MN, dated 1922 was presented. There is no longer a post office in Salo, and hasn't been for some 90 plus years. No value, but interesting.
A candle mold for six tapers, about eight inches tall was presented. This item thought to be circa 1920 was valued at $20-25. This is one of the items that was worth double this about 15-20 years ago.
An "Aunt Jemimah" bank was shown. This was a copy, about 50 years old, and was valued at $8-10.
A large chenille bedspread was shown. It was in pastel shades of pink, lavender and blue. This item, circa 1950 was very decorative and was valued at $40-60. It did have some minor damage to one corner.
A small dehorning device was shown. This item, circa 1935 was for small horns, and was valued at $10-15. It was still a usable item.
