Mabel Cherrier, 96, of Cloquet passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Care Center on Feb. 2, 2022. She was born in Birmingham, England on May 25, 1925. At the age of 21 she became a war bride and soon started a new life in Cloquet.
Mabel enjoyed making new friends and being a homemaker. She loved to cook and bake for family and friends, and had a huge collection of recipes and cooking tips. Friends, family, and care providers enjoyed her colorful stories of life in England and rearing five children.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, John Flavian Cherrier; son, John David Cherrier; daughter Patricia Diane Harvey; and good friend, Arthur Card. She is survived by daughters Janet (Alex) Piatek, Margaret (Dennis) Lee, and Barbara Cherrier-Layne; and 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Mabel will be held 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet.
