Sewing for Community

Last weekend, the Wood City Quilters had a retreat at the Perch Lake town hall, where members worked on service projects for the community. They sewed pillowcases for area hospital pediatric units, nursing homes, assisted living centers, and treatment centers. Chemotherapy cushions were made for the oncology unit at St. Luke's. Walker bags will go to the residents of Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet. Wood City Quilters was founded in 2019 to give area quilters the opportunity to learn new skills, share knowledge, and provide service to the community. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Cloquet Public Library. Find more information on the group's Facebook page or call president Cathy Nelson at 218-310-0767. Community organizations in need of the guild's services can also contact Cathy.
