Essentia Health will open its new Cloquet clinic and urgent care on May 16 at 1413 Highway 33 South, across from Bergquist Imports and south of the credit union.
"We know that there is an unmet need in the community and we know this can help fill that gap," said Trina Lower, operations director for Essentia. "We see many patients traveling from the Cloquet area to receive high-quality care at our facilities in Duluth and Moose Lake. By opening this clinic, we are eliminating barriers and making a healthy difference in people's lives."
The clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The urgent care, located at the same address, will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Appointments can be made at EssentiaHealth.org, via MyChart or by calling 218-337-4000.
With 12 exam rooms, one procedure room and one telehealth room, the clinic will be 7,600 square feet and will offer family practice care with obstetrics, urgent care, additional specialty services and laboratory and radiology services.
"Patients will have access to expert, compassionate care locally and their health information will be available for all Essentia providers in our system's electronic medical record," said Dr. Tom Witt, physician administrator at Essentia. "They will also have that information available at their fingertips through MyChart."
The Cloquet facility is the second Carlton County clinic for Essentia, which took over operation of Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake in 2020 and opened a new family health clinic there in September.
