Carlton County commissioners voted last month to support a "No Mow May" to help bees and other pollinators, as they are struggling with habitat loss, neonicotinoid use, pathogens and parasites. By encouraging people to wait until June to mow their yards and other outdoor spaces, pollinators can take advantage of early spring flowers (yes, including dandelions) as they emerge from the unusually long hibernation this spring.
