Cloquet police seek input

As part of the process of accepting grant funding for the implementation of body-worn cameras, the Cloquet Police Department held the first of three public hearings during Tuesday’s city council meeting for public input. Police chief Derek Randall presented the draft policy for the both video and audio recordings, which was published as part of the May 17 council agenda packet at cloquetmn.gov. There was no public comment Tuesday, although Randall said the police department has received two comments, both in favor of body cameras.

Anyone interested in providing input or feedback on body-worn cameras or the draft policy can attend one of the next two council meetings, held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. People may also call or email the department at 218-879-1247 or email [email protected] with BWC in the subject line.

Councilors also approved a transient merchant license for MarksMan Trading Post at 227 1/2 Highway 33 North, which plans to hold a flea market selling produce, trinkets and antiques in the store parking lot once a month on Fridays from June through September, starting June 3. The gun and collectibles store owners verified they will not sell firearms outside, in response to city concerns.
